Five Stars

Naturally, as a writer, five-star reviews of my work thrill me to the core. But I am even more riveted when those reviews are accompanied by comments that speak to the connection a reader is making with the poetry--more specifically women readers.
My work is, unapologetically, about and for women. I've bled my life out on the page to say to other women out there in the world struggling to survive in systems that do not whole-heartedly support their survival, and may even more intentionally support their demise, that they are not alone. So when I receive a five-star review from a woman who has read my work that expresses this companionship, I feel nothing short of joy.
And now, I invite you to share my joy. Here are three five-star reviews by women readers of my newest book Wolves in Shells, winner of the 2024 Backwaters Prize in Poetry from University of Nebraska Press. You can find the book for purchase at the UNP bookstore. Thank you to each of these women for not only reading my book, but for taking the time to share the value they find in its poetry.
